- How does owner operator compensation work?
- Owner operators receive 90% of gross load revenue. Elgin Express retains 10% for operational support and management services. Owner operators remain responsible for their own business expenses, including fuel, tolls, insurance, IFTA, weight taxes, registration, and other operating expenses. - Is all your freight through Amazon Relay?
- No. Amazon Relay is one of our freight sources, not the only one. We also run DAT loads and outside/direct freight. Dispatch works to keep you loaded with whatever mix makes sense for your route and your numbers — not locked into one app.
- Do I need power-only equipment?
- Not necessarily. Power-only — where you provide the tractor and freight supplies or pairs with the trailer — is one setup we support, but not the only one. We also work with owner operators running other trailer types. Bring your equipment and we'll work with what you've got.
- What kind of dispatch support do you provide?
- Our dispatch team is available 24/7. We aim to provide support without controlling how you run your business — you retain the independence that comes with being an owner operator, backed by a team that communicates directly and honestly.
- What is the application process like?
- We are selective about who joins our company. The fastest way to reach us is through our application — it lets us learn about your experience and equipment before a call. Once submitted, our team reviews your application and follows up directly.
- What equipment do I need?
